Rangerettes on Halloween

The Rangerettes premiered their Halloween dance during the black-out pep rally held on October 31. But they decided to share their performance a second time with Hill County Retirement Home.

“We wanted to give the people at the home a good time. Some don’t live close by family so they were glad to have people to talk to,” Hana Snell, 2017, said.

The Rangerette officers worked hard to choreograph the routine and make sure it was perfect by the time they performed it.

“Most of the dances we learned at our camp this summer, but the others were choreographed by either Coach Steele or the officers. The people loved it, and we were very pleased with our performance,” Stephanie Rey, 2017, said.

The Frisco Lakes Center reached out to the Rangerettes, and they decided to perform because they felt that’s who would most appreciate it during the holiday season.

“We went to the Frisco Lakes community, and they asked for a drill team from Frisco to provide some entertainment for the citizens and we were the first to offer,” Rey said.

The people at the home appreciated being thought of, and had plenty to say when asked about their opinion of the performance.

“You could hear them saying things like “I could never kick that high” or “ouch!” and that made us love what we’re doing even more,” Maisha Haque, 2017, said.

In fact, the reception was so positive, the Rettes have decided to make this an annual tradition.

“We are planning to go back next year and they predict we’ll have a bigger audience, it was such a fun and humbling experience to reach out to this community. ” It was nice to brighten their day along with our own making it an experience I’ll never forget,” Haque said.
