On October 6th, the LSHS Marching Band placed 2nd at the Little Elm Classic by the Lake prelims and finals competition.

“As an individual, that was one of my best runs,” Emalee Neatherlin, 2022, said. “Numbers aren’t really what matter as long as there is some type of improvement in some way, shape or form.”

The band has worked to improve their run at every performance; however the pressure for winning first place was strong throughout the band players.

“Since Lone Star has won the Little Elm competition two years in a row I wanted to keep that legacy going,” Maryn Samons, 2022, said.

The scores in the top five were particularly close, as Lone Star was one point from third and one point from getting first place.

“I would score our finals performance pretty high but not a perfect score,” Drum Major Mason Martinez, 2019, said. “Our run was really really good, however, there’s always room for improvement.”
