Boys Basketball Back In Action

The  LSHS boys basketball pre-season scrimmage game was held November 3rd against Lovejoy High School.

“I feel that this upcoming season will be a big one for the Lone Star program. We are looking to capture a second district championship for the past three seasons,”  Isaiah Lewis, 2019, said.

After going all the way to the district championship last season, the LSHS boys basketball team has improved a lot during the off-season and they intend to get far this season as well.

“When working as a team we always get to keep each other on our feet and keep one another from feeling sorry for ourselves,” T’Mari Jones, 2019, said. “When we work together we can all win, by trusting each other’s plays and being flexible. When doing these tasks consistently, we may have a huge shot at going to district championships.”

The LSHS boys basketball team still has some minor things to improve to get to the district championship, but believe as a team it can be accomplished.

“Our hardest thing to overcome this season will be the lack of experience we have on the roster. With most returning varsity players being on football, we must work each day to get better in time for the first game,” Lewis said.

In the off-season, they worked on “building more of a chemistry” and this built their foundation.  It also has allowed them to have nothing but positive feelings about the upcoming season.

“We have improved more defensively by learning to rotate to different sides to stop different offenses from scoring,” Josh McLaughlin, 2020, said.

Overall, the LSHS boys basketball team is going into this season very confident and will continue to make progress as the season approaches. Their first official game will be Tuesday, November 13th against Waxahachie High School.

“We’ve worked hard this off-season and are looking to accomplish our many goals,” Tre Jones, 2020, said.
