From seeing family for the first time in years, to opening presents under a Christmas tree; the holiday season is one that brings tidings of joy and moments to remember forever.

“When family is home ,we just get time to catch up on everybody’s lives, since we don’t see each other for years, this can be Christmas, Thanksgiving, or any time,” Seifey Mohammad, 2018, said.

Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season. Being a time to spend with those whom mean the most and to give thanks for what is had.  Most people spend the holiday season with their families and loved ones as tradition.

“The one memory I have with family is us bundled up around the Christmas tree, opening presents and just making jokes as we opened them,” Tatum Meza, 2016, said.

Being able to go spend time with loved ones and family during Thanksgiving, and later Christmas and New Years, creates a means for traveling across the country or even to another town that’s twenty-minutes from home.

“Traveling is so exciting, I’m going to Illinois for Thanksgiving, and it’s a 16 hour car drive, sometimes being trapped in the car with my family can be extremely annoying though,” Julia Zilio, 2017, said.

The majority of people love spending time with their family for the holiday season. For some adults, it brings back childhood memories and makes them feel like kids again, while being glad that they can help create great memories for their children to live with all of their lives.

“It is hard to pick a single favorite memory from the holiday season, one thing that is clear is that the holidays do not officially start until we have watched “A Christmas Story” during Thanksgiving break and they do not end until Alabama plays their Bowl game, most likely for a national championship; everything between late November and early January is just peace and joy,” Mr. Vice, English and Debate teacher, said.
