Daylight Savings Time

At 2:00 a.m. Nov 2nd, 2014 clocks were turned back one hour as a sign of the end of Daylight Saving Time. Some Students look at the time change as a benefit rather than a waste of time.

“I like changing our clocks back because this gives me extra time to study for tests or quizzes,” Hiba Ansari,  2018, said.

Though extra studying is a positive result from the end of daylight saving time, Kenya Holmes was not very appreciative of setting the clock back one hour.

“Setting the clocks back one hour has affected me because I was tired and I had to get up and my body wasn’t used to it,” Kenya Holmes,  2018, said.

The end of daylight saving time has not only affected the students, but workers have felt the time change as well.

“I think that the end daylight saving time is better because the sun is up when I am and this helps me wake up faster,” worker, Alyssa Huber said.

Daylight saving time was started by Benjamin Franklin when he notices that people were wasting daylight by sleeping. Holmes often thinks about the purpose of the time change.

“I think about the purpose because I am curious as to why change the time,” Holmes said.

Turning the clocks back one hour affects people, but to Ansari, she believes different.

“Daylight saving has not effected my style,” Ansari said.

Huber found the importance of turning the clocks back by noticing her sleeping patterns.

“I believe that the end of daylight saving time is significant because it balances out the hours of the days with when the sun rises and sets,” Huber said. “This makes sure that we do not go to bed when the sun is still up and wake up when it is dark outside,” Huber said.

This change in time gives people an extra hour to do what they choose, but for Ansari, this benefits her school work.

“I choose to live one hour behind because it gives me the chance to balance my time with friends and getting my school work accomplished.

People have different opinions on whether or not going back one hour is a good or bad change.

“I think that the result of the end of daylight saving time is good because it allows you to have some time to enjoy the days,” Holmes said.
