Rachel’s Challenge

Creating a safe and kind environment for students is what Lone Star and Rachel’s Challenge is all about, as we saw on January 26th and 27th. Students, school wide, had the opportunity to participate in a meeting that could change your viewpoint on life.

“It made me think about how people are going through things, and you wouldn’t know because they are wearing a mask,” Jenna Enciso, 2018, said.

During the program the students opened up to each other by explaining their hardships and struggles.

“Talking about things really helped me realize that I was not alone,” Enciso said.

Throughout the day students came to realize that their fellow classmates could be going through the same thing.

“I felt safe and actually opened up a little,” Brent Hudson, 2016, said.

Rachel’s Challenge encourages a safe environment to open up and be yourself, therefore it makes students feel comfortable about sharing their problems.

“My favorite part was the comfort level of everything and how open people were.” Gracie Young, 2018, said.

The program has a huge impact on students, creates a safer environment in schools and promotes kindness.

“I would absolutely do Rachel’s Challenge again,” Young said.
