NHS Can Food Drive

It’s that time of year for the members of the National Honors Society, their canned food drive fundraiser started October 13 and it’s going forward until November 12. It’s looked over by the Frisco Family Service Pantry which is where the food will be going once it’s over.

“All members are expected to participate,” Mrs. Leonard said.

For each member, a tally sheet is posted online and they use it to count how many points they receive by the amount of items they bring, and they have to reach a certain number to receive their hours for community service.

While there is a food drive going on, it isn’t promoted out to the whole school.

There was a time when it was given out to the whole school but it was taken as widely as it was between the society leaving them not to broadcast as widely as they would.

“We only offer the NHS canned food drive to NHS members because the whole school didn’t participate as much as they did,” Mrs. Morgan said.

If you would like to donate any canned food item just bring it to Mrs. Leonard or Mrs. Morgan’s room.

For their next community service project, the society will be caroling at a nursing home for the holiday season.
