Journalism UIL

Many sports and activities have already finished their UIL competitions, but it’s not over yet. The Journalism UIL competition will be held on Friday, April 10 at Lone Star High School.

The events include news writing, headline writing, editorial writing, and feature writing, and many contestants are participating in more than one event.

“I am doing both news writing and headline writing. I really like writing news stories because they are concrete and you can follow a formula while writing them, but I also love the creativity you can put into writing headlines,” Alyssa McGuire,  2017, said.

Journalism students from all over Frisco ISD will attend the competition and compete in the events.

“I am super nervous to compete, I don’t know what skill level everyone else is at. I’m also excited though, I have worked very hard for this and I just want to get out there and start writing,” Camila Coz,2017, said.

The journalism class has been practicing for UIL all year, and they will finally get a chance to showcase their skills.

“I am really proud of the progress I have made this year, and I am excited to put my skills to the test,” McGuire said.
