After longs months of rehearsals and competitions, the Lone Star High School Band is preparing to take their band trip to South Padre. Excitement and anticipation are growing amongst the students.

 “I’m excited for the band trip because we can all spend time together and go to the beach,” Ramya Srikanth, 2016, said.

 Many of the kids are looking forward to getting away from school and the stressful preparation of UIL, and just spending time with the band family they’ve formed. The Lone Star band participated in pre-UIL in late March.

 “I’m excited for the band trip because it’s a fun trip with a good group of people,” Kaitlynn Davis, 2017, said. “We worked really hard this year and the band trip is a fun reward.”

 However, for many, this year’s band trip will be their last. Many of the seniors have grown up in the Lone Star band, participating since their freshman year.

“It’s bittersweet. I’m sad to leave everyone and the directors,” Gabby Stokes, 2015, said.
